Wrestling means something different to everyone but, for this writer, the art of professional wrestling is about the moments; those must-see incidents that you recount with friends and fellow fans years later: “I was there when…”
This year, the moment was all about CM Punk.
Only the truly optimistic believed Punk could return to wrestling but, seven years after his self-imposed exile, Punk is in All Elite Wrestling and doing it again. And he’s absolutely loving it.
No moment in 2021, nay recent wrestling history, compares to his first steps on AEW Rampage back in late August.
The story of 2021 was all Punk’s and we were simply along for the ride, the lucky witnesses to his redemption.
