Dax Harwood Doesn't Think Cody Rhodes Had To Overcome More Adversity Ahead Of WWE WrestleMania 39 Main Event

Dax Harwood thinks Cody Rhodes had plenty of adversity before WrestleMania 39

Hearts were broken and a story was left unfinished at WrestleMania 39 as Cody Rhodes fell to Roman Reigns in the main event of the Showcase of the Immortals, suffering a spear following interference from Solo Sikoa.

The decision to have Cody Rhodes fail in his quest to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship has been widely criticised since WrestleMania 39 but an argument has cropped up online in which some have claimed Cody didn't go through enough adversity ahead of the main event.

Dax Harwood has fired back at that point of view, though, comparing Rhodes not winning the big one to Lex Luger's failure to capture the WWF Championship at SummerSlam 1993.

Harwood said on his FTR podcast

"Imagine, if people would have said, 'Well it's SummerSlam, WrestleMania 10 is around the corner. Let the story play out.' We did, we let the story play out. Letting that story play out, it killed Lex Luger. I saw other people who said Cody had to overcome more adversity. He tore his pec. Thousands of people in the arena saw it. Hundreds of thousands saw it on the pay-per-view. I don't know if you can overcome any more adversity than that.

"On top of that, if we only want to keep it storyline driven, just show a one-minute package of his prior WWE career and what he had to overcome there. Before he left, the man was Stardust. Show how he had to overcome and made himself into a main event level star and then have him come out on top. It's okay for the good guy to win sometimes. I feel he should have, that's my opinion. I feel he should have won."

Roman Reigns has disappeared from WWE TV following the Raw after WrestleMania 39 and he will reportedly be absent from the Backlash pay-per-view on May 6. Cody Rhodes, meanwhile, is set to feud with Brock Lesnar after the former WWE Champion's recent heel turn.
