Doug Williams Appears To Retire From Pro Wrestling

UK veteran Doug Williams appears to have retired from pro-wrestling

Doug Williams has seemingly retired from professional wrestling, with the UK veteran posting a picture to Twitter of his wrestling boots in the middle of an empty ring.

The gesture of leaving one’s boots in the ring has long meant retirement from in-ring competition, and if Williams has indeed wrestled his last match, then it brings to a close a career that has spanned nearly 30 years, and seen Williams wrestle all over the planet.

Williams last wrestled in May 2023, and his Twitter post saw a raft of compliments and well wishes from across the pro-wrestling fraternity, with the likes of AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn, and Lance Storm paying their respects to Williams.

A cornerstone of the UK wrestling scene since the mid-1990s, Williams has held championships in the likes of Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling NOAH, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, TNA/IMPACT, and the National Wrestling Alliance, with Williams holding the NWA World Tag Team Championships with Harry Smith as The Commonwealth Connection in 2022.
