Drew McIntyre Addresses His WWE Future

Drew McIntyre has spoken of his WWE future

Drew McIntyre made his shock return to WWE at Money in the Bank on July 1, with the former WWE Champion facing down GUNTHER after 'Der Ring General’s successful Intercontinental Championship defence against Matt Riddle.

MITB marked McIntyre’s first appearance in a WWE ring in several months, with McIntyre and WWE reportedly in the midst of contract negotiations. McIntyre’s status in the company is less than certain, and during an appearance on the July 5 edition of WWE’s The Bump, McIntyre addressed his future in the organisation:

“I just want to apologise for everybody, that I missed my dates, I missed the towns. It’s not like me, unless there’s a reason. Obviously, the rumour and innuendo is out there. What’s going on with Drew McIntyre? What’s going on with the future? The future doesn’t matter. What matters is the present, and presently, Drew McIntyre is back. If you’re heading to a WWE show and Drew McIntyre’s there, you know you’re gonna get 110%, and finally, I’m chasing that big moment with a title in front of live fans. So let’s make that happen finally," McIntyre said.

McIntyre’s current WWE deal is reported to be expiring in early 2024, but his deal could be extended through WrestleMania 40.
