Drew McIntyre Reveals How His Viral Photo With Jack Perry Came Together

Drew McIntyre has opened up about his internet-breaking photo with Jack Perry

The WWE feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre has been one of the most personal of the year, and it has been a rivalry that has often blurred the lines between kayfabe and reality. One such moment of murkiness in the water when it comes to their rivalry came when Drew McIntyre posted a photo to X back on July 25 which saw him standing side by side with AEW TNT Champion Jack Perry.

Perry was of course at the centre of the controversial incident at All In 2023, in which he spoke the now infamous words of, “Real glass? Cry me a river,” into the camera, sparking a backstage tussle with CM Punk which saw Punk put Perry in a choke hold. This ultimately led to Punk’s firing from AEW and his subsequent return to WWE in November of last year.

It wasn’t long until McIntyre deleted the photo from his social media, though evidence of the photo is still present all across the internet. When speaking on Gorilla Position, McIntyre was asked about how the photo happened.

"On the same flight. I was just right in front of him. I had a chat with him. Lovely lad. His girlfriend is really nice, flying to LA. Just said, 'Hey, we should do a picture. We're both wrestlers. I'll put it on the internet. Give you a little rub.' People reacted crazy. That internet.”

It was noted at the time that any reference made to Punk's past would have been green lit by the man himself, meaning that this photo would likely not have been posted without agreement from Punk. McIntyre & Punk have now had two matches at one win apiece in their WWE series.
