Edge Mentioned On AEW Collision Amid Speculation Of WWE Departure

AEW Collision mentioned Edge, but is he on his way out of WWE?

With speculation mounting that Edge could be on his way out of WWE, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive suggesting the ‘Rated R-Superstar’ could make the jump to All Elite Wrestling, joining up with long-time tag partner Christian Cage.

AEW themselves have leaned into the rumours, mentioning Edge during the August 19 broadcast of Collision. During Cage’s match with Darby Allin, AEW commentator Jim Ross recalled signing Christian to a WWE deal during his time as WWE’s Head of Talent Relations, with Ross also mentioning how he signed Edge too.

It’s unknown whether this was AEW playing with the rumours out there, if this was a genuine tease of Edge’s possible arrival in the company, or if this was just J.R. being J.R.

Edge world champion defeated Sheamus in singles competition on the August 18 edition of WWE SmackDown, with it widely believed heading into the bout that it was the last of Edge’s current WWE deal, which is believed to expire in September. Whether Edge leaves WWE remains to be seen, as it is very possible that the WWE Hall of Famer could sign a new deal with the ‘sports entertainment’ behemoth.
