El Grande Americano Rumoured To Be Roman Reigns' WWE World Heavyweight Title Opponent At Mexico City Raw

Roman Reigns' plans with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide have been revealed, with WWE announcing that Reigns will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of the September 14 episode of Monday Night Raw from Arena CDMX in Mexico City.

Reigns' opponent will be determined in a tournament that will feature luchadores from across the WWE main roster and AAA, with the tournament set to get underway on the August 10 edition of Raw. The wrestlers who will compete in the tournament have not been announced as of the time of writing.

Roman Reigns may be set to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Title against AAA's top babyface, though, as Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Live that the rumoured opponent for Reigns is El Grande Americano.

"The rumoured opponent, unconfirmed, not locked in, the rumoured opponent is El Grande Americano. That could certainly change," Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Live, before he later stated that WWE are denying Reigns' opponent will be El Grande Americano.

Roman Reigns making a AAA-related appearance was set up to close out the August 3 edition of Raw when he and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio walked off together to have a discussion about the Lucha Libre brand.
