EXCLUSIVE: UK Indy Wrestler Stars As X-Men Villain In Deadpool & Wolverine

Bulk of the UK Pitbulls is in Deadpool & Wolverine!

Note: This article contains a spoiler for Deadpool & Wolverine.

A veteran of the UK independent wrestling scene is in the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie, and he stars as a returning villain. Mike Waters - AKA Bulk of the UK Pitbulls - stars as Blob in Deadpool & Wolverine, the villain who uses his incredible body mass to commit petty crimes and be a general nuisance for the X-Men and other Marvel superheroes. Blob previously appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in the infamous boxing scene where he was played by Kevin Durand. Blob then had a brief cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse, where he was portrayed by Gustav Claude Ouimet.

Speaking exclusively to Cultaholic's Tom Campbell, Bulk described Blob as the role he was born to play.

"I'm surprised I got it. I think it's because I'm naturally fat. It's basically the part I was born to play. All those years I was told lose weight or you'll die young, but no I ignored all that and it's paid off. I've cemented my legacy in the MCU," Bulk said.

The UK wrestling legend explained how he secured the role and detailed meeting Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, noting he was willing to get naked for him if necessary.

"I got a message from UGLY saying we've got an exciting audition for you and I also got a message from another agency I'm with. The way agencies work, they have a photobook thing and it's online and all the agencies have it. I suppose they look for certain body types and I've obviously flagged up on a couple of searches because I'm with a couple of agencies. I went with UGLY because they paid better. I think they got it first because I think there was some sort of bidding war on me for a little bit which was quite funny," Bulk stated.

"I just went down and met Shawn Levy, went down to Pinewood Studios. That was last Summer and basically he saw me and went, 'Can you take your top off?' You know what I'm like so I went, 'Yeah, no problem. I can get naked if you want.' He went, 'No, no. Just the top will do. Can you just act tough? What do you actually do?' I said, 'Well I'm a pro wrestler.' He's like, 'Perfect.' Then I did a few Bulk 'grrrrs' and all that sort of sh*t. He went, 'Yeah, we'll be in touch.' Within half an hour I got a call saying yeah you've got it. I still didn't know what it was."

Due to the actor's strike, Bulk didn't begin work on the movie until January of 2024. He didn't get to meet the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman but he did meet Shawn Levy once again and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during filming at Pinewood Studios in Iver, England. Bulk noted his filming experience was two sessions in front of a green screen with a range of props for Blob to use, and he did it all with a cracked rib in the frigid temperatures of the UK in Winter.

"I went down for the costume fitting. They had to fit me with the costume and they explained to me that all of my tattoos had to be covered up and all this sort of stuff. I met Shawn Levy, he was cool, I met Kevin Feige. Yeah, nice guys. They were the only guys I did meet, everything was all green screen," Bulk added.

Mike Waters' pro wrestling run paid dividends and Blob in Deadpool & Wolverine will look familiar to anyone who has seen Bulk wrestle.

"Basically I just acted like the Bulk. The Bulk is a kind of Blob-type character anyway. He's a fat, horrible, obnoxious big bloke that hates people when I'm heel. So it was kind of natural really. Just sort of acted like I do walking to the ring and being in the ring, that sort of thing," Waters revealed.

Bulk had his full body scanned as Blob but he doesn't know if Marvel plan to make any action figures of him. He is open to future appearances as Blob should Marvel wish to bring him back.

Bulk is one-half of the UK Pitbulls with his brother Dave Waters (AKA Big Dave). They have been a staple of UK independent wrestling since 2000 and the tag team will have a big announcement in the next couple of weeks!
