First WWE NXT 2.0 'TakeOver' Tentatively Set For Next Month

NXT are set for a 'TakeOver' event in early December

The first major NXT event since the relaunch of the brand has reportedly tentatively been set to take place on Sunday 6 December 2021.

It was reported last week that WWE did not have any NXT TakeOver events listed on the promotion's internal calendar for the remaining of 2021, leading to speculation regarding the future of the brand in terms of special, super-show events.

However, according toBrandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, WWE are indeed planning for an NXT 2.0 TakeOver event with the date tentatively set for the first weekend of December.

While the show is set to be a TakeOver-style event, Thurston says that sources have been unable to confirm whether WWE will be continuing with the name 'TakeOver' for the show or, much like with the NXT brand as a whole, the event will undergo some form of production change and transformation.

NXT's last TakeOver event was held back on Sunday 22 August, following SummerSlam 2021, and was headlined by Samoa Joe defeating Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship. The event also saw Adam Cole's final appearance as a WWE employee, with NXT undergoing significant changes just a few weeks later.
