Fred Rosser To Miss NJPW STRONG Independence Day

Fred Rosser Will Not Be Able To Compete At New Japan's Upcoming Independence Day Shows

A former champion is set to miss out on New Japan Pro-Wrestling STRONG's upcoming Independence Day event.

Fred Rosser, the former Darren Young in WWE, announced via NJPW’s website that he would be unable to take part in the show due to "circumstances beyond my control."

Rosser said: "I am grateful to New Japan management and most importantly our fans for your continued support. Working with STRONG has been one of the highlights of my career."

The 39-year-old star’s message wasn’t all bad news, though, as he did say fans would see him in Japan “sooner than later”.

Rosser signed with New Japan in 2020 and won their Strong Openweight Championship in 2022. Independence Day will take place in Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall on July 4 and July 5.

Scheduled matches include Rocky Romero and Eddie Kingston taking on Kenta and Gedo, Willow Nightingale defending the STRONG Women’s Championship against STARDOM's Giulia, and Jon Moxley battling El Desperado in a Final Death Match.
