Free Agent Reveals Why His WWE Signing Fell Through

A WWE signing recently collapsed

WWE looked to have signed a developmental talent to the roster earlier this year after reports indicated that Colby Corino had verbally agreed to join the organisation, but reports have since indicated that Corino's signing with WWE has fallen through.

Speaking to Matt Koon, Corino confirmed he had verbally agreed to sign with WWE and the deal had collapsed. He explained a background check was required before he could sign on the dotted line and that is where the issues started.

"We were supposed to move to Florida on a Sunday and the Monday before, I get a call. I get told there was a problem with my background check and there was something from seven years ago that I needed to handle and after that, I'd be good to go. Now, I'm good to go and it seems like that's not the case anymore," Corino said.

The former NWA star eventually joining WWE isn't closed but he noted it's a "not right now" situation. Corino didn't know if the rumoured WWE hiring freeze had stopped him from joining the organisation. A hiring freeze has reportedly been in place within the organisation since Vince McMahon put WWE up for sale in January 2023. A sale to Endeavor and merger with UFC was announced in April 2023.

Corino isn't sure about his pro wrestling future but he noted he isn't going to rush into making a decision.
