The backstage atmosphere within All Elite Wrestling is set to become more uncertain next month, with CM Punk rumoured to return on the debut episode of AEW Collision - the promotion's yet-to-be-announced Saturday night show - on June 17. The two-time AEW World Champion will reportedly be the star of Collision, but he will still make appearances on Dynamite.

Punk's return will lead to a brand split of sorts in AEW to separate the 44-year-old and those who don't want to be in the same building as him.

CM Punk appears to have at least somewhat resolved any issues he had with Chris Jericho following a "productive meeting" between the two men in recent weeks, but the same can't be said for CM Punk and The Elite.

A higher-up within All Elite Wrestling told Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that CM Punk and The Elite are "no closer to any resolutions than they have been, but things are more reasonable." At least one person not named CM Punk is willing to apologise and has been willing to do so for a while but both sides are banned from making contact due to ongoing legal issues. It is unknown if Punk is willing to apologise but separate reports in March suggested Punk might be willing to say he's sorry over the post-All Out media scrum.

A person on the CM Punk side of the situation told Meltzer they believe apologies are required and the 44-year-old should be the first person to say he's sorry, but not be the only one.

After months of backstage issues, the situation reached a boiling point following the All Out pay-per-view in September 2022 after CM Punk took shots at The Elite, Hangman Page, and Colt Cabana during his media scrum. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks then had a fight with CM Punk and Ace Steel following the media scrum.
