Details emerged over the last week of some reported frustrations in the women’s division regarding WWE’s booking, with it stemming down to wanting to be on a more level playing field to the men. This comes with the acknowledgment that contracts have improved for women’s wrestlers and investment in terms of viewership is more even, but this isn’t reflected in TV time and the commitment from WWE creative to writing enthralling stories for those in the women’s division.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has followed up with some more information on this story. Those on the current WWE roster reportedly spoke to Fightful and expressed frustration at the lack of focus on developing title contenders, the continued disregard to the tag team division, and less time for those lower down the card. Some of this frustration has grown out of seeing how much more time the NXT women’s division has been provided in recent times.
It was also noted that there was some annoyance at ‘redundant storylines’, and a lack of confidence following the story of Sonya Deville getting released from WWE whilst also in the process of negotiating a new deal.
It was also revealed that the female talent who have asked WWE about potential creative plans were asked to be patient and told their ‘time would be coming’.
