Further Details On Jimmy Jacobs' AEW Resignation

It was reported yesterday that Jimmy Jacobs had resigned from his roles on the creative team and as a producer in AEW, with it noted that he was burned out. Other details included that Jacobs worked closely with Tony Khan - more so than anyone else - and was on the road very often. In the aftermath of this news, several rumours and reports circulated on social media regarding Jacobs and his work on the creative team, some of which were either not entirely accurate or true, according to an update from Fightful Select. 

For instance, Jacobs was not the originator of Chris Jericho’s Learning Tree gimmick, though he did work closely with Jericho in bringing it to existence. He was also very aware of who Kazuchika Okada was and is, contrary to some chatter on social media. Additionally, it is explained that Jacobs was unfamiliar with AEW’s product upon his arrival, but he was open to learning and did work to catch up on AEW’s on-screen shows. 

Fightful Select also reports that Jacobs was well liked in AEW and there were no disagreements or bad blood when it came to him resigning from the company. AEW’s response to his departure has included an awareness that the creative process needs freshened up, and there have been internal plans of doing just that.
