Gable Steveson Planning To Use Final Year Of NCAA Eligibility

Gable Steveson might be increasing his amateur wrestling workload

The chances of Gable Steveson becoming a regular performer on WWE TV anytime soon continue to look slimmer and slimmer.

FloWrestling has reported that Steveson wants to return to NCAA competition for amateur wrestling next year. Steveson previously won national titles for the Minnesota Gophers in 2021 and 2022 before retiring. He recently returned to amateur wrestling at the US Open and Final X in April 2023, however, and Steveson now intends to use his final year of NCAA eligibility.

Steveson still has to work out any scheduling details with WWE before his return to NCAA competition is made official. Steveson also recently noted that he is aiming to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as he feels he didn't have the full Olympic experience in Tokyo due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Steveson has been under contract with WWE since 2021 and he was actually drafted to Monday Night Raw shortly after. He has only made sporadic appearances since joining the company, though, and reports have indicated that the Olympic gold medallist has struggled with professional wrestling

As of Steveson's last word his WWE return would be happening "sooner than a lot of people think."
