Goldberg's in-ring career came to an end on the July 12 edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event as the 58-year-old unsuccessfully challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Goldberg noted ahead of his final match that he was suffering from knee issues. His knees didn't affect the WWE Hall of Famer at Saturday Night's Main Event, but Goldberg did sustain a broken hand during the match with Gunther.

"Oh yeah, yeah (I feel good physically following the retirement match). You can't really tell but, my hand, I broke my hand at some point in that match and I think today's the first day I can see veins back in my hand. It's not nearly as swollen as it was. That and…shoulder didn't hurt, neck didn't hurt. My knee isn't worse," Goldberg said on the CarCast podcast.

Goldberg admitted following his retirement match that he was "p*ssed off" over how it played out, but Da' Man did heap praise upon Gunther.

"All I hear is people complaining about me complaining and not many have reached the fact that it was the second-longest match I ever did in my life at 58 years old. Now, I could not have done it without Gunther. That kid is freakin' unbelievable. I mean, it was a wonderful opportunity to be in the ring with him, and an honour, and I couldn't have done it without him. Your limitations are yourself and your dance partner, and he made it happen so, it was awesome. I had a good time," he continued.

"Gunther stayed 30 minutes to an hour afterwards, after I was talking to all my friends in the room in the back. That kid's got class. He's got a lot of class. I can't say enough good things about him, and hopefully his future is filled with nothing but awesome stuff so, it couldn't have been done without him," Goldberg later added.

Saturday Night's Main Event infamously came to an end just as Goldberg began his retirement speech, something which WWE reportedly apologised to Goldberg about. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, once again, expressed his unhappiness over what happened.

"It might as well have been a conspiracy because you had six months to plan for it. Also, I knew to an extent that was gonna happen because they were silently pushing the social side of it because obviously, you keep people with a cliffhanger on national television and then say that the rest of the speech will be blistered on social media and it's gonna drive traffic if people care about what it is, and so I knew at some point - but I thought in two minutes, it was gonna go to that, and it didn't...It went somewhere…It's bullsh*t, so, I mean, you know, I'll get into more in about a week," he added.
