In the latest update in Ludwig Kaiser's battery case, it has been revealed that Gunther - real name Walter Hahn - was the individual who bonded his former Imperium stablemate out of jail.
Court records have revealed that a pre-trial conference in the case is scheduled for July 16 at 9 am ET at the Circuit and County Court of the Ninth Judicial Circuit for Orange County, Florida. Those involved with the case have been notified, including Gunther, with it being noted that he bonded Kaiser - real name Marcel Barthel - out of jail. Gunther paid two $500 cheques to pay Kaiser's $1,000 bond on May 20.
The pre-trial conference will see the prosecution and defence meet to determine whether the case will go to trial or if it will be resolved beforehand with a plea agreement. The case potentially going to trial between August 10 and August 28 is noted on court records should a trial be needed.
Marcel Barthel was arrested on May 20 on one count of battery stemming from an incident on April 23 outside of an elevator at the apartment complex where Barthel resides in Orlando, Florida. The police report about the incident stated that Kaiser and his partner were allegedly "acting in an 'uncontrollably intimate' manner," which was described as aggressive kissing, while in an elevator with another individual, who would ultimately end up being the complainant. When the complainant exited the elevator, he asked the couple to "please have some manners." Barthel, according to the police report, then allegedly attacked the complainant by punching him multiple times and pushing him to the ground. Kaiser then threatened further violence, according to the complainant. The incident was filmed on CCTV.
Barthel was arrested and bonded out of jail on the same day. The WWE talent pleaded not guilty to the battery charge on May 21 and submitted a request to travel out-of-state and internationally, which has since been granted.
A different account of the incident claiming that the complainant told the couple to show some respect before they called ICE on Kaiser's partner, AAA interviewer Andrea Bazarte, emerged following Kaiser's arrest. This version of what happened is believed to have been planted within WWE, however.
Barthel, who performs as El Grande Americano, is scheduled to headline AAA Noche de los Grandes on May 30 in a Mask vs. Mask Match against Original El Grande Americano.
