House of Torture celebrating their title win at NJPW Road To New Beginning

Hiroshi Tanahashi is no longer a champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as the NJPW president, Toru Yano and Boltin Oleg lost the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Titles to House of Torture's SHO, Ren Narita, and Yujiro Takahashi.

The title change took place as part of New Japan's Road To New Beginning tour on January 30 at Sendai Sunplaza Hall. House of Torture had already stolen the belts at New Year Dash but they walked away with the straps as champions on Thursday, with House of Torture securing the win following interference from Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

The babyfaces looked to have the match won down the stretch but Toru Yano was blinded by Kanemaru spitting whiskey in his face. SHO then followed up with a low blow and rolled up Yano for the pinfall victory.

With the win, SHO becomes a three-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion, having previously held the belts on two occasions with EVIL and Yujiro Takahashi. Yujiro is now a four-time champion as he once held the title for three days in 2016 with Bad Luck Fale and Tama Tonga in addition to his House of Torture reigns. Ren Narita, meanwhile, is now a two-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion. He previously held the belts with Minoru Suzuki and El Desperado in 2023.
