An argument could be made that Drew McIntyre has been the MVP of WWE in 2024, with the ‘Scottish Psychopath’s work in his feud with CM Punk praised by fans and industry figures alike. But what does the future hold for McIntyre?

‘Irn Dru’ signed a lucrative long term deal with WWE in early 2024, and had a brief reign as World Heavyweight Champion earlier this year. Per a report from WrestleVotes Radio on Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, WWE have big plans for McIntyre as the Netflix era of Raw kicks off in 2025:

“So with the recent return of Drew McIntyre, we were told from a source that WWE feels as though McIntyre is on the cusp, if not already there, of becoming a quote, ‘significant main event, upper echelon attraction’, and they attribute some of this to his work over the last 10 months with CM Punk. A source states that McIntyre’s viral comments on Busted Open Radio last week were not scripted in any way and that WWE loved the reaction to what went down. We are told McIntyre will be a huge focus as we head into 2025.”

McIntyre returned to action in December after a two-month break, entering into a feud with Sami Zayn and Jey Uso. The multi-time WWE Champion recently spoke candidly about how the wrestling business has taken so much from him during the aforementioned appearance on Busted Open.
