Netflix and WWE’s partnership bore new fruit with the recent release of the WWE: Unreal docuseries, and internal reaction to the production has been unveiled.
The series takes an unprecedented look at WWE, with cameras capturing all the backstage make-up of the company, shattering kayfabe once and for all. A report from Fightful Select suggests that there is a lot of happiness within WWE over the reaction to Unreal, and the amount of buzz the show is generating.
WWE: Unreal has shed light on much of WWE’s original plans for WrestleMania 41 season, with cameras backstage from around Royal Rumble 2025 onwards. Such scrapped plans revealed by the show include a pitch for Kevin Owens to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber, and that CM Punk was a strong candidate to win the Men’s 2025 Royal Rumble match until plans changed to have Jey Uso win the esteemed bout.
Another revelation revealed on WWE: Unreal is that Travis Scott was originally planned to accompany Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania XLI, prior to Scott’s involvement with John Cena’s heel turn and his eventual interference during Cena’s WWE Championship match with Cody Rhodes at Mania 41.
