Impact Wrestling Hires Tom Phillips As Play By Play Announcer

A new voice for Impact Wrestling

Tom Hannifan, formerly known as Tom Phillips in WWE, has signed on with Impact Wrestling as its newest play by play announcer.

The news was initially broken by Renee Paquette, who promoted Hannifan's upcoming appearance on her podcast, writing, "Huge news!! @TomHannifan joins @IMPACTWRESTLING as their newest play by play announcer at Hard To Kill! What a pick up for them! I have Tom’s first interview this coming Tuesday on The Sessions!!"

Minutes later, Impact corroborated Paquette's tweet, writing, "We can confirm Tom Hannifan has joined IMPACT Wrestling as our newest play by play announcer! Welcome to IMPACT Wrestling  @TomHannifan!"

Hannifan worked for WWE from 2012 to 2021, where he performed lead commentary duties on Raw, SmackDown, NXT, NXT UK, and other programs at different points. He was replaced as Raw's lead announcer by former ESPN anchor Adnan Virk last April, then released from the organization the following month.

Impact recently parted ways with Matt Striker, who had served as lead announcer over the preceding year.

Hard to Kill takes place tonight at The Factory in Dallas.
