Injury Scare Forces Multiple WWE NXT Changes

Multiple changes to WWE NXT following injury scare

Multiple changes had to be made to WWE NXT on Tuesday, April 2 following an injury scare during the show.

Joe Gacy went one-on-one with Oba Femi on NXT but the match was quickly called off after Gacy's head hit the canvas hard following a slam from the NXT North American Champion. WWE's medical team immediately checked on Gacy after the match was waved off, with there being concern that he sustained a possible concussion, according to Fightful Select's Corey Brennan.

Brennan further noted that Gacy was able to walk to the back under his own power but changes were quickly made to NXT as match graphics and a promo to set up his NXT Stand & Deliver pre-show match with Shawn Spears were briefly put on hold. Gacy later filmed a segment backstage where he stated he was fine and asked for a match with Spears at Stand & Deliver. The match was subsequently booked for Saturday's premium live event.

The original finish of Oba Femi vs. Joe Gacy was scheduled to lead into Dijak and Josh Briggs getting involved in a segment with Oba Femi ahead of their NXT North American Title Triple Threat at Stand & Deliver. Gacy's injury led to the segment being filmed backstage on short notice.
