Intercontinental Championship Number One Contender's Match Set For Next Week’s WWE SmackDown

Fatal Five-Way Announced For Next Week's SmackDown To Determine GUNTHER's WrestleMania Challenger

The plans for GUNTHER’s WrestleMania 39 opponent have been steadily becoming clearer, with it seeming as though Drew McIntyre was set to face him at the show following a challenge last week. However, there are more names in the running, and his challenger will be decided on next week’s SmackDown.

On last night's episode of SmackDown, McIntyre emerged to reiterate his challenge, but was confronted by his friend Sheamus, who was upset at McIntyre for going behind his back when he knows what winning the Intercontinental Title and defeating GUNTHER means to him. LA Knight joined in, stating his desire to also win the championship. Not long after, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Karrion Kross were also in the mix.

A brawl between these men led to Adam Pearce deciding on a fatal five-way number one contender's match for next week between all those names mentioned aside from Woods, with the winner challenging GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39. There are a lot of talented names involved, though McIntyre and Sheamus are certainly at the top of the running to win.

Also announced for next week’s SmackDown is a match between the Viking Raiders and Braun Strowman & Ricochet.
