Japanese wrestling promotion GLEAT have announced that an international star is set to make their in-ring return after being on the injured list for several months.

Announced for GLEAT’s October 6 and October 9 shows, Lucha Libre AAA star El Hijo Del Vikingo is set to wrestle for the first time since February, with the acclaimed luchador having missed most of 2024 due to a torn meniscus and ruptured ligament, an injury that later required surgery.

Prior to his injury lay-off, Vikingo had been receiving plaudits for his work in Mexico and abroad, with a series of appearances for All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor in 2023 exposing his work to new audiences. Vikingo’s singles bout against Kenny Omega on the March 22, 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite was heralded as one of the matches of the year.

Vikingo’s injury meant he was forced to vacate the AAA Mega Championship, a title he had held for over 800 days. Vikingo also challenged for the TNA X-Division Championship at Hard to Kill in January 2024 in a three-way against KUSHIDA and then champion Chris Sabin.
