Jack Perry Suspended Indefinitely By AEW

Jack Perry was suspended indefinitely by AEW

Jack Perry seemingly won't be returning to AEW TV anytime soon, with Tony Khan revealing the former Jungle Boy was suspended indefinitely over his involvement in the backstage altercation with CM Punk at All In.

"He's been suspended indefinitely. We've suspended everybody in that investigation and took further action after that based on what happened and came out of the investigation. We suspended Jack as a participant in an incident backstage, and Jack hasn't been around. That's all I can say about it. At the time, we did suspend him and he hasn't been at AEW since AEW All In," Khan said during the post-All Out media scrum.

Perry and Punk had a backstage altercation at All In following comments Perry made during his Zero Hour match with HOOK. The two talents had developed issues earlier in the summer over Perry wanting to use real glass for a segment on AEW Collision, the show that Punk was effectively the sheriff of.

There have been varying accounts about what happened during the altercation but a neutral party stated to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Punk went nose-to-nose with Perry in an aggressive manner after the former Jungle Boy returned to the back following his match with HOOK. Punk asked if he and Perry had a problem and Perry claimed he was just trying to get heel heat with his Zero Hour comments. Punk then shoved Perry, at which point Perry got in Punk's face and was sucker-punched by the 44-year-old. Punk then went for a choke and the altercation was immediately broken up.

Tony Khan was said to be yelling for Punk to let Perry go and Punk reportedly went for Tony Khan immediately after the altercation. Khan has since noted that he feared for his life backstage at All In.

Punk and Perry were suspended after the incident pending an investigation. Punk has since been fired by All Elite Wrestling.
