JD Vance To Hold Campaign Event At Former ECW Arena

JD Vance to appear at former ECW Arena

JD Vance will go EXTREME as he campaigns ahead of the 2024 United States presidential election.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has reported that Vance will be in South Philadelphia on Tuesday for a campaign event. The event will be held at the legendary 2300 Arena, which was also the home of Extreme Championship Wrestling for much of the promotion's existence. The venue can hold around 2,000 people for the event that will begin around 12 pm ET.

Vance's stop at the 2300 Arena comes on the same day that Vice President Kamala Harris is in Philadelphia for an appearance at Temple University's Liacouras Center.

JD Vance is the Republican Party's nominee for vice president, although he has been a headache for running mate Donald Trump ever since the Hilbilly Elegy author was selected by Trump's team. A baseless claim that Vance had sexual intercourse with a sofa was the subject of social media speculation and memes, while Vance has also been criticised for supporting a nationwide ban on abortion and for attacking women without children.

The Republican Party nominee for President Donald Trump, of course, has history with Extreme Championship Wrestling, albeit the WWE version of the promotion. ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley was Trump's chosen champion for the Battle of the Billionaires against Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 23.

The pro wrestling connections to the Republican Party don't stop there as Hulk Hogan gave a speech at the Republican National Convention ahead of Trump accepting the Republican Party nomination, while former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is considered a strong candidate to be commerce secretary should Trump win the 2024 presidential election. Cody Rhodes also revealed that he was approached by both of the major political parties in the United States about running in Georgia.
