Jim Cornette Has Resigned From The NWA

Effective Immediately...

Episode seven of NWA Powerrr was pulled from YouTube and other platforms following a racist remark made by commentator Jim Cornette.

During a non-title match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch, Cornette said Murdoch was: “The only man I've ever known that could strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and drive a motor scooter across Ethiopia.”

The episode has since been edited and re-uploaded, with both NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis and NWA Vice President David Lagana issuing apologies.

The National Wrestling Alliance, however, have now announced that Jim Cornette has resigned as a commentator with immediate effect.

In a statement on their website, they wrote: “Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance.

"To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we've established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward.

"We sincerely regret our failure in this regard.”

It has not yet been announced what will happen with Cornette's commentary in the episodes of Powerrr that have already been taped.
