Jim Ross Misses CM Punk In AEW

Jim Ross wishes CM Punk was still with AEW

It has nearly been a full year since CM Punk last appeared on AEW programming, with his final match coming last August at the first ever AEW All In London event at Wembley Stadium where he defeated Samoa Joe, successfully defending the “Real Worlds Championship”. Following a backstage incident involving Jack Perry, Punk was fired from AEW and subsequently joined WWE, returning at Survivor Series 2023 in Chicago.

Although Punk made many enemies during his time in AEW, there are many who dearly miss his presence, and one of those is Jim Ross. On a recent episode of “Grilling Jr”, Ross noted that he wishes Punk was still in AEW.

"I get text messages from him on a somewhat frequent basis because he's just checking on me to see how I'm feeling. He likes me and he respects me, and it's reciprocal ... I miss CM Punk. I thought he contributed greatly to the AEW roster when he was with us. To be perfectly candid, I wish he still was. How do you not want a talent the level of CM Punk not still with your company? It, personality-wise, just did not work out, and that's unfortunate."
