Jim Ross has revealed that he has been diagnosed with colon cancer, the latest ailment to befall the veteran pro-wrestling commentator.

Ross revealed the news on social media, posting the following to X/Twitter:

“Diagnosed this week with colon cancer. Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support.”

JR has undergone multiple medical procedures over the past several years, with the AEW analyst having battled skin cancer, as well as undergoing separate surgeries to fix his wrist and hip. Ross also missed several AEW broadcast dates in 2024 due to other medical concerns, including shortness of breath.

A 50-year veteran, JR has greatly decreased his AEW commitments, transitioning from full-time commentator to calling the action for main events on pay-per-view, as well as hosting backstage interview packages across AEW television.

Ross earlier commented on his medical woes in 2024, stating he was trying to adopt a positive attitude:

“I’m not going to bitch and moan about ‘poor me.’ That don’t heal nothing,” Ross said at the time. “And nobody wants to hear that s***. I don’t. In any event, things are good. Things are good here.”
