Joey Ryan Drops Lawsuit Against Speaking Out Accuser

Another lawsuit is gone

Joey Ryan (Joseph Meehan) filed to dismiss one of his lawsuits against a Speaking Out accuser yesterday.

Meehan's lawyer filed a Notice Of Dismissal on March 2, which reads: "TO THE COURT AND ALL PARTIES IN THIS ACTION, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT plaintiff, Joseph R. Meehan (Meehan), voluntarily dismisses without prejudice defendant, Redacted Redacted (Redacted). Redacted has not answered or filed a motion for summary judgment. This notice is made pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 41(a)(1)(A). Dated: March 2, 2021, Los Angeles, California UTZURRUM LAW OFFICES, A.P.C."

Ryan filed the lawsuit back on October 7, 2020 and alleged the defendant made false and defamatory statements about him during the Speaking Out movement. Meehan also claimed in the lawsuit that he did not sexually assault the accuser and "any intimate acts" were made with "clear consent."

Meehan was later awarded a default judgement after the defendant failed to respond to the summons. Court records noted the summons was left at the accuser's home but not personally served to her.

Ryan has previously had two lawsuits against Speaking Out accusers dismissed. His case against former Ring Of Honor wrestler Pelle Tsichilis was dismissed and transferred to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania US District Court. Tsichilis currently has a gofundme set-up to help pay for legal fees. Ryan's lawsuit against IMPACT Wrestling is also still ongoing.
