Vince McMahon’s name has been embroiled in controversy over the last few years following the emergence of sex-trafficking and assault allegations in a lawsuit involving former WWE employee Janel Grant. This led to Vince McMahon’s exit from WWE, with his name hardly ever mentioned by anyone in the company today. One person who has often spoken about Vince McMahon in a positive light since the lawsuit and allegations is John Cena, cementing his love for his former boss on more than one occasion.

In another recent interview, this time with Joe Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience, Cena explained that despite McMahon’s controversy, he believes in forgiveness and time healing things in response to whether or not he believed McMahon would ever return to WWE.

“I know, now, he’s out. In my eyes, I’d like to think that time heals everything and I believe in forgiveness. I also believe in looking at the body of work. I also know there is a lot of fragile stuff going on there. I’ve learned to become a little more accountable for what I say, and just because I feel a certain way about a person doesn’t excuse them from being accountable for their actions. Just because he did start ‘all this gangster shit,’ doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be accountable for his actions. Let’s figure out what that means, and then figure out if we can move forward and bring it back in the fold or if it stays the way it is.”

In the lead up to Cena’s retirement match, reports have emerged that it is increasingly more unlikely for McMahon to attend that event.
