Jon Moxley Addresses Fans Briefly Thinking He Was Showing Up At WWE WrestleMania 40

The Shield music had some people fooled for a second.

Towards the end of the Undisputed WWE Universal Title match main event of WrestleMania 40, The Shield's theme music started to play.

Since Seth Rollins had already wrestled earlier in the evening (losing his World Heavyweight Championship in the process), some fans initially assumed that AEW's Jon Moxley (FKA Dean Ambrose) was coming out to help Cody Rhodes against Roman Reigns. That wasn't the case, as Rollins appeared dressed in his old Shield garb and provided a momentary distraction.

Moxley, meanwhile, was on the other side of the world when all this was happening and, as he tells SI, wasn't even awake at the time.

"I was asleep in Japan when that was going on. When I woke up, I had these messages saying, 'I thought you were coming out!'. And I was like, 'Coming out where?' It's cool that people thought it was me. But I was asleep".

Moxley had travelled to Tokyo in order to team with Shota Umino against Jack Perry and Ren Narita at NJPW Sakura Genesis. Six days later, the 38-year-old defeated Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

A recent report suggests that Rollins will not be joining Moxley in AEW any time soon.
