Josh Alexander Didn't Want TNA To Extend His Contract

Josh Alexander was against TNA extending his contract

TNA Wrestling revealed earlier this week that they had ‘exercised its option to extend the contract’ of Josh Alexander, with the ‘Walking Weapon’ staying with the promotion despite uncertainty surrounding its future following Scott D’Amore’s sacking.

The wording of TNA’s announcement had wrestling fans talking, with the phrasing seeming to indicate that TNA had played their hand over Alexander’s contract status. A follow-on report from Fightful Select seems to suggest this is what happened, with it said that Alexander’s contract was set to expire on February 14, but TNA picked up an option year keeping the former world champion with the promotion until February 14, 2025.

Should Alexander not sign a further deal or extension then he could enter free agency in 2025, with Fightful’s report suggesting that prior to TNA exercising the option year Alexander himself asked for the option year to not be enacted by TNA as he wanted to "survey the landscape if possible". Alexander didn’t request his exit per se, and there is said to be no concerns from TNA’s point of view about Alexander meeting his contractual obligations while he remains with the company.

A former two-time TNA World Champion, Alexander has been the cornerstone of the men’s main event scene in TNA for much of the past three years.
