Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport has been one of the biggest draws of GCW over the last several years, with the promotion hosting a total of seventeen Bloodsport events since 2018, providing fans with a different take on professional wrestling, being presented more akin to Mixed Martial Arts and as a “shoot” rather than the traditional style fans are accustomed to seeing. However, fans may be waiting a long time to see another Bloodsport show.
At last night’s Bloodsport XV, Josh Barnett revealed following his match with Yuji Nagata that Bloodsport would be ending for the foreseeable future, and while he was not closing the door on bringing it back at some point, this would be the last one for now. Barnett thanked GCW and Brett Lauderdale for everything they’d done for Bloodsport, all the while the fans voiced their disapproval.
Barnett noted that he had his own personal reasons for stepping back and ending Bloodsport, but he did not want to go into them at the moment. Bloodsport has proven to be a big part of WrestleMania weekend for several years, even bringing in a wide array of names from across the professional wrestling world, featuring stars from TNA, AEW, and even WWE in recent years, with the likes of Nattie, Shayna Baszler, and others crossing over.
