Josh Briggs Makes WWE In-Ring Debut On 205 Live

The former EVOLVE Champion debuts

205 Live is not the home of the cruiserweights anymore.

The purple brand often features in-ring action from Superstars under 205 pounds, but 205 Live has been used as a second NXT show at times, which was the case during last night's tapings.

A fan in attendance at the tapings noted Josh Briggs, who is 6-foot-8 and weighs 268 pounds, made his WWE in-ring debut against Asher Hale on the show. Odyssey Jones, who was billed at over 400 pounds, also made his TV in-ring debut against Grayson Waller.

Briggs signed with WWE in August 2020 along with multiple other former EVOLVE talents. He had been wrestling on the independent wrestling scene since 2016 and he carved out a home for himself in EVOLVE. Briggs defeated Austin Theory to become EVOLVE Champion in November 2019 and he would hold the title until the company was purchased by WWE.

A former American football player in college, Odyssey Jones signed with WWE back in 2019. He has wrestled a handful of times at NXT house shows and he also competed in a dark match against Robert Roode ahead of the July 2 edition of SmackDown.

Both Briggs and Jones will be participants in the NXT Breakout Tournament. They will be joined by Trey Baxter, Carmelo Hayes, Andre Chase, Ikemen Jiro, Joe Gacy and Duke Hudson.
