Kenny Omega Responds To Criticisms Of AEW's Women's Division

Since All Elite Wrestling hosted its first show, Double Or Nothing, the young promotion has been mostly praised by wrestling fans. One area which has been consistently criticised, however, is the women's division. Fans have levelled that the division suffers from inconsistent storytelling and poor booking, with the AEW Women's Championship match on the January 8th episode of Dynamite between Riho and Kris Statlander being particularly criticised.

AEW Executive Vice President Kenny Omega currently oversees the women's division and also helped scout and recruit wrestlers for their talent pool. Yesterday, Omega held a Q&A on Twitter in which he responded to fans' criticisms of the division. He stated that most of the condemnation has come from internet trolls who hold ignorant opinions, but that he does take the time to sift through and find "actual constructive criticism."

Omega tweeted: "Lately, most "criticisms" I read are incredibly ignorant. Depressing the amount of fans that have absolutely no class. That being said, I do try to sift through those to get to the actual constructive criticism."

Omega also wrote that AEW had yet to decide upon the face of the division, but he praised Riho, Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander for their work so far. He penned: "Still developing the face of the division, but Riho’s proven to be an inspiration to many, Shida is the complete package, and Kris has shown that she has the tools to take the div to another level."
