Kevin Owens: ROH Didn't Ask Any WWE Talent For Final Battle Videos
Owens is a former ROH World Champion
Dec 22, 2021
At ROH’s Final Battle PPV, former ROH stars from across the Indies, IMPACT, and AEW sent video messages saying just what the revolutionary company meant to them and their careers, with former ROH Champions Bryan Danielson and CM Punk sending well wishes, amongst others.
However, it was noticeable that there were no videos from former ROH stars contracted to WWE, with the likes of Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and Seth Rollins having held the top belt in Ring of Honor.
Wrestling fans were quick to suggest that WWE didn’t allow their talent to appear on the PPV, but according to Kevin Owens himself, this is far from the case:
"The answer is quite simple: Ring of Honor didn’t ask any wrestlers from WWE to do that, nor contacted anyone at WWE," Owens said on Pat Laprade's les Anti-Pods de la Lutte podcast (in French). "I knew it was going to be their last show, but I didn’t think to send a video so they could play it at the show. I’ve watched it. I was at a WWE show, and I was watching it on my phone, so it was not something I simply ignored. I’ve read some people on the internet saying that probably WWE didn’t let us do it, but that’s incorrect. It’s just ROH who didn’t ask us, and I bet that if they had, we could have done it, but that wasn’t the case.”
