After signing with New Japan Pro-Wrestling in addition to his All Elite Wrestling and DDT Pro deals, Konosuke Takeshita has been added to the New Beginning in Osaka card on February 11.

Takeshita is set to put his NEVER Openweight Title on the line against Boltin Oleg at the show, having successfully defended the title against KUSHIDA at Battle in the Valley on January 11. Boltin previously issued the challenge to Takeshita for the title shortly after Takeshita’s defence against Tomohiro Ishii at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, with ‘The Alpha’ saying he’d face Oleg when he was next in Japan.

Takeshita’s deal means he is a dual employee of AEW and NJPW, with the two sides believed to be working out when and where Takeshita will appear between themselves - similar to the arrangement KUSHIDA had with both TNA Wrestling and New Japan. Takeshita’s NJPW contract is believed to be a year in length, with Takeshita also still affiliated with DDT Pro.

As well as the NEVER Openweight Championship, Takeshita currently reigns as AEW International Champion, having defeated Will Ospreay and Ricochet for the title at Wrestle Dream II in October 2024.
