Oct 15, 2024
Konosuke Takeshita's first defence of the AEW International Championship won't be in All Elite Wrestling.
PWInsider first reported that Takeshita will put his belt on the line against Josh Alexander as part of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's inaugural weekend of shows on Sunday, October 20.
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling - the new promotion owned by Scott D'Amore - will hold their first event on Saturday, October 19 before another show the following day. Both events will emanate from St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and air on TrillerTV.
Konosuke Takeshita won the AEW International Title at WrestleDream, defeating Will Ospreay and Ricochet in a three-way. Takeshita's title win had reportedly been planned for weeks.
Takeshita noted in the post-WrestleDream press conference that he wanted to defend the International Title around the world, similar to what PAC and Orange Cassidy did with the belt.
Before his match with Josh Alexander, Takeshita will take on "Speedball" Mike Bailey at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's October 19 event. Other matches confirmed for that show include Raj Dhesi (FKA Jinder Mahal) vs. Bully Ray in a Tables Match, and Rohan Raja vs. Jake Something.
