Kurt Angle Reveals Original Plans For WWE SmackDown Birthday Celebration

Kurt Angle returned on WWE SmackDown for his birthday celebration

With the December 9 edition of Friday Night SmackDown emanating from his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, WWE held a birthday celebration for Kurt Angle in the main event. The show featured a callback to one of Angle's most iconic segments as he brought back the milk truck and dowsed Chad Gable and Otis in plenty of semi-skimmed alongside Gable Steveson.

The segment didn't quite happen as originally planned, though, with Angle revealing on his podcast that there was going to be a lot more heels in the ring for the final segment when it was originally put together. WWE instead opted to go with just Chad Gable and Otis and the ring filled with babyfaces in celebration of Angle's birthday as the show went off the air.

"Well, I approached WWE and I said, 'Listen, your Olympic Hero is gonna have a birthday on December 9. You're gonna be in Pittsburgh, WWE is gonna be in Pittsburgh, it's a perfect time to celebrate my birthday,' So they were like, 'Yeah, yeah, we'll think about it.' They came back to me and they said, 'Okay, we're gonna do something,'" Angle began.

"They wanted me to do the milk truck segment again. They decided to have a bunch of heels talk about me during the show, all through the show, putting me down, and ripping on me. Then, in the end, they were coming out to the ring because I was supposed to have my celebration, I don't show up, and the heels are in the ring with all the birthday cake and everything, and I come in with the milk truck and I go down and I spray them down. I tell them, 'Hey, you can't have cake without milk.' It's awesome," he continued.

"When I was told this, I was so excited. Because that was my favourite moment in WWE. Driving that milk truck into the arena in Sacramento, California. It was my number one moment, I absolutely love that I had such a great time doing it. And it was an awesome moment for me to be able to do it again."

Since his in-ring retirement in 2019, Angle has made sporadic appearances on WWE TV. Angle recently addressed a possible return to the ring and you can find out more here.
