Kurt Angle Says 'Perc Angle' Nickname Reminds Him Of Painful Memories

Over the years, fans have often referred to Kurt Angle with the ‘Perc Angle’ nickname, stemming from a time period in TNA where he was struggling with drug use and addiction, whilst also simultaneously having some of his best career matches. 

Angle noted in an interview with Chris Van Vliet that he doesn’t find fans using the name, but he doesn’t want it said to his face. The WWE Hall Of Famer took to X to provide further comment on this topic, revealing that the nickname brings back unsavoury memories.  “I’ve noticed the ‘Perc Angle’ nickname trending on social media. While I know it’s made in jest, it reminds me of a time when I struggled deeply with addiction and mental health challenges. Those memories are painful, but they also fuel my commitment to helping others. I’ve been clean for 12 years and have since built a life dedicated to purpose and service. Addiction destroys lives, but it’s never too late to get help. I appreciate all the positive feedback and support. To my fans: thank you for never giving up on me. I love you all.”

Angle recently revealed that during a match with Rikishi, he took a ‘Stinkface’ from his opponent… who hadn’t wiped.
