Kyle O'Reilly Undergoes Neck Fusion Surgery

Kyle O’Reilly has undergone fusion surgery

It seems that any hope of a quick return for AEW’s Kyle O’Reilly are out of the window, after the Undisputed Elite star revealed on Instagram that he’s undergone neck fusion surgery.

O’Reilly posted on his Instagram story that he has undergone surgery, with the former ROH World Champion having been out of action since early June.

The former ‘Cool Kyle’ last appeared on an episode of AEW Dynamite in August as he and Undisputed Elite team-mates Adam Cole and Bobby Fish turned on The Young Bucks, it was noticeable how little O’Reilly did during the segment.

Fusion surgery is no joke, and recovery times can vary. Indeed, AEW’s Trent Beretta was out for over eight months in 2021 after undergoing a similar surgical procedure, and the surgery can force wrestlers to change up their in-ring style.

O’Reilly signed with AEW in December 2021 after leaving WWE NXT, quickly reuniting with former Undisputed Era team mates Adam Cole and Bobby Fish. O’Reilly later revealed that he had signed a five year deal with the promotion.

There is no word yet on when O’Reilly is expected to return to the ring.
