Lee Moriarty was approached by Stokely Hathaway in July 2022, but did not join up with Hathaway and The Firm until All Out in September, inexplicably disappearing from TV for over a month between appearances.

The timing of Moriarty’s absence was strange considering he was being figured into a major angle, but during an appearance on Talk is Jericho, ‘Taiga Style’ revealed why he was off TV:

"No, it was just taking time off because we didn't know the direction it was going to go in at the time," Moriarty said. "And then when I took the card from Stokely, the idea was to disappear for a while so no one knew it was coming. So when I returned at All Out, no one expected it, no one could prepare for it.

"So, before my match with Sydal, which was my last one, Stokely told me, 'Hey, you might be gone for a couple of weeks, but don't take it personally like you did anything wrong.' I didn't know how long it was going to be, didn't know we were coming back at All Out or anything until maybe the week of."

The Firm would run roughshod over the Casino Ladder Match at All Out, destroying all competitors before a masked MJF came down to receive the poker chip, and guarantee a shot at the AEW World Championship.
