Main Event Of WWE NXT Battleground Revealed
NXT Battleground's main event is official
The main event of NXT's Battleground premium live event has been revealed.
Bron Breakker accepted Carmelo Hayes' challenge to a WWE NXT Title match on Tuesday night's show from the developmental brand, saying he would embarrass Hayes in his hometown of Lowell, Massachusetts. Hayes wasn't on NXT due to an attack from Breakker last week but Bron was offered a match by Trick Williams. They will go one-on-one next week.
Breakker had been NXT Champion for close to a year but Hayes defeated him for the gold following interference from Williams at Stand & Deliver on April 1. Breakker then turned heel on the post-Stand & Deliver episode of NXT, taking out Hayes after initially showing the new NXT Champion respect.
NXT Battleground will take place on Sunday, May 28. The show will go head to head with All Elite Wrestling's Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Shawn Michaels has claimed AEW's show was not a factor in WWE's decision to run Battleground on the same day as Double or Nothing.
