CM Punk will apparently be on the road for WWE this holiday season, with a major match reportedly set to take place in his hometown.
According to Sportskeeda's Dr. Chris Featherstone, 'The Straight-Edge Superstar' will clash with current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther when WWE rolls into Chicago for a non-televised live event at the Allstate Arena on December 29.
Per Featherstone's report, the match will take place inside a steel cage.
"Nope, it'll be against Punk in "Chicago" as a part of the Holiday Tour in a couple of weeks. Could it be a tease for an upcoming feud? Perhaps, but we'll have to wait and see after the Netflix debut where Punk goes", he replied to a fan on X who guessed that Gunther would take on Damian Priest in a cage match on Raw's Netflix debut episode (on January 6).
WWE's own webpage for the live event in Chicago does not feature any announced matches, nor is Punk included in the superstar lineup.
During an interview with Cheap Heat last month, Punk listed Gunther as someone he would like to wrestle on a non-televised event, saying:
"I'm still reconciling with the schedule and the fact that I’m not 30-years-old. When you ask, 'Who do you want to get in the ring with?' The list is pretty lengthy. Chad Gable is at the top of the list. Bronson Reed as at the top of the list. (Ludwig) Kaiser is somebody I see a lot in and would be fun. Gunther. I'm selfishly talking about guys I would love to wrestle on house shows".
Punk will reportedly clash with Seth Rollins on Raw's Netflix debut.
