We haven’t seen Swerve Strickland since All Out on September 7, but the former AEW World Champion remains a presence on Dynamite.

On the September 25 Grand Slam IV special of Dynamite, Prince Nana gave an update on his client, stating that Strickland hasn’t been cleared to return but is fighting hard to come back. MVP then interrupted Nana to suggest he and Swerve talk ‘business’ sometime, seemingly setting up an angle with the two men.

A post-Grand Slam follow-up report from Fightful Select states that Strickland remains off the road, but has ‘always’ been planned to make an appearance at the upcoming WrestleDream PPV on October 12 in Strickland’s hometown of Tacoma, Washington.

Strickland was always expected to take time off following All Out, with his brutal main event Light’s Out Steel Cage Match against Hangman Page writing the former AEW World Champion off of TV. Subsequent reports suggested Strickland could be back ‘sooner than expected’ in order to build something for or at WrestleDream.

MVP’s phrasing during his debut suggests that he could be bringing in his old Hurt Business faction from WWE, with the core of MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin believed to have held recent talks with the promotion. Whether Swerve joins or faces this stable remains to be seen.
