Mark Henry Reveals Why He Became 'Sexual Chocolate'

Henry explains why he became a ladies man during the Attitude Era.

Contrary to urban legend, Mark Henry's 'Sexual Chocolate' character was not some form of punishment.

Speaking about the character's creation during a recent interview with Attitude Era Podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer said:

"During the Attitude Era, you had to do stuff that got people's attention, because otherwise nobody would notice you on the show. There were people that wrestled, that people don't remember them, because they didn't do nothing that was memorable".

Henry also noted that the name was inspired by a line uttered by one of Eddie Murphy's characters in the 1988 comedy film Coming to America.

Continuing, the former World Heavyweight Champion added that the nature of the character meant it didn't matter when he suffered a succession of losses on television.

"I said 'I don't care about winning or losing. This is the fact that I want to get the girl. I want to be distracted. So when I lose it don't matter'. Everybody loved that character man. I only did that character for two and a half years. But here we are 25 years later, and we're still talking about it," Henry said.

Sexual Chocolate made a one-off return on the 'Old School' November 15, 2010 episode of Raw.
