“Scapegoat” Jack Perry made his first defence of his newly-won TNT Championship last night on AEW Collision, and he was met with a ghost of his past. The old Jurassic Express entrance theme played out, much to the confusion of both Perry and the fans, before his old ally Marko Stunt emerged to a huge ovation to answer the open challenge in his hometown.
Perry dispatched of Stunt in under five minutes in a fast-paced title match, kicking his reign off with a bang. This was Stunt’s first match in AEW since an appearance on AEW Dark in September 2021, with his contract expiring in March 2022. His AEW exit wasn’t the smoothest, with a reported breakdown in communication, but his return (even if it is a one off) is a sign of a renewed relationship with AEW and Tony Khan. For Stunt, this was his first match in a year and a half, getting injured at a GCW event in January 2023.
Jack Perry and Stunt last teamed together in early 2021, before Stunt moved away from the Jurassic Express faction.
