Matt Hardy Still Negotiating New AEW Deal

Matt is trying to figure out what's going on.

Matt Hardy has provided an update on his status with AEW.

The 49-year-old recently confirmed reports that his AEW contract is set to expire this month, prompting speculation about his future.

Speaking on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the former WWE United States Champion noted that he was "just still conversing, still in the midst of negotiation, figuring out what's going on".

Matt has previously spoken about how much he has enjoyed working for AEW and with Tony Khan. While he would like to continue with the promotion, he is also fine if the two sides go their separate ways.

Hardy signed with AEW in March 2020, but he hasn't been used much of late. His last AEW match took place on the January 3 edition of Rampage. He had previously expressed frustrations with how he and his brother Jeff had been booked by the promotion.

Jeff Hardy, meanwhile, is currently on the sidelines after suffering a nose injury during a match with Sammy Guevara (taped February 14).

While Matt may not end up re-signing with AEW, he has no plans to retire as an active in-ring performer.
