Mercedes Moné's Plans For NJPW Resurgence Revealed

What's next for Mercedes Moné in NJPW?

Mercedes Moné will be in action at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's upcoming Resurgence show in Long Beach, California on May 21 and her role at the event has been revealed.

NJPW have announced that a one-night four-woman tournament will take place at Resurgence to crown the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women's Champion. Moné has been revealed as one of the four entrants and she will face CMLL luchadora Stephanie Vaquer in the semi-finals of the tournament. On the other side of the bracket, STARDOM's Momo Kogho will go one-on-one with All Elite Wrestling's Willow Nightingale.

The show could be set to host Moné's final matches in New Japan as she is reportedly set to become a free agent soon. She recently signed an extension with NJPW/STARDOM which covers her match/matches at Resurgence but she isn't scheduled to compete for STARDOM for "at least a while." For Moné to wrestle in STARDOM again, a new deal would "likely require a bigger renegotiation", according to reports.

In the latest update from Fightful Select, NJPW are hopeful of continuing to work with Moné but she's not signed to a long-term arrangement with the promotion.
